Most participants will lose between 2.5 and 4.5lbs during the 3 day fasting period. If you were to return to your pre-fasting diet, this weightloss would only last about 17 days. The goal of our program is to achieve a healthy weight and body composition while deprogramming bad eating behaviours and replacing them with good eating behaviors specific to your nutritional needs.

For successful fasting, a mindful and stepwise reintroduction of solid food intake is of importance and a cornerstone to successfully adopt a more healthy lifestyle following fasting.

You have already learned the benefits of fasting so now we need to follow it up with the benefits of a short term reduced calorie plant based diet.

If your current diet has lead to slow but steady weight gains of mostly body fat then periods of caloric restriciton can slow the onset of risk of disease related to this weight increase. In addition, inducing significant weight loss can have beneficial anti-inflammatory effects and reduce the production of free radicals that are associated with premature aging (both fasting and restricted calorie diets turn off the aging process for short periods of time).

Optimizing your nutrition and adding or scaling up your fitness routine activates numerous metabolic pathways that can slow the aging process and improve overall health and vitality.

Just like with all things in life, balance is key. Acute exercise creates oxidative stress which activates a class III protein deacetylas also known as SIRT1,  “The reported findings suggest that an acute load of exercise activates SIRT1, which in turn activates biogenesis and mitochondrial oxidative capacity.”

What does this mean exactly? If you stress your body through unhealthy means such as a bad diet and sedentary behavior, your body won’t activate the metabolic mechanisms to combat the aging process or decline of your overall health. However, if you create oxidative stress through physical activity and exercise, your body will respond through an extensive antioxidant system and create a healthy index of stress and repair that prolongs health and life.

Increasing calories and exercise incrementally post fast will improve your overall outcome and help you adopt eating behaviors that will continue to promote health and vitality rather than disease and sickness. 

Sticking to plant based, whole foods for a period of time will continue to feed the beneficial bacteria in you gut while reducing inflammatory response and improving immune health.
